Welcome to the Nebraska Group!

Jim, LaVonna, Gary, and Jen came to the Minocqua area to visit. They’ve not been here before so we were really looking forward to showing them the area and enjoying a good visit.

They arrived Thursday afternoon after a long flight from Lincoln, Nebraska.   They got up early that morning leaving Lincoln by 3:30 a.m. After a quick flight to Chicago they had a 4 hour layover before heading to CWA.   Both flights were uneventful and they pulled into our driveway about 3:30 p.m.

After a little relaxation on the deck, we loaded up the pontoon boat to go for a quick ride. It was a pretty cool and windy day but it was nice to be out. We saw the usual fare…eagles, deer, loons (including some baby loons), and birds.

After the ride, we settled in for the evening.   We made homemade pizzas – everyone “built” and cooked their own.   It wasn’t long after that people’s eyelids started to droop. And who could blame them! – they had been up since 2:00 am the night before – that makes for a long, long day!

Friday dawned a beautiful day. We headed into town to get fishing licenses and to buy a camera for Jen. Once back home, we loaded up a cooler with cheese, sausage, veggies, and adult beverages.   We also threw in some rods/reels to do a little fishing. It wasn’t long until Jen pulled one in to the boat…and another….and another….she had a great day catching 7 largemouth.

But she wasn’t the only one catching as everyone fishing caught bass…..

Friday evening we went to Four Seasons for the fish fry. As usual the fish was excellent and the company even more enjoyable!

We came home from the fish fry and started a fire.   Three hours passed quickly and around 10:00 pm we headed in to bed. Everyone was tired and full from a great dinner, a great fire, and great family time.
